Christmas - a blessing
Christmas is here again.
The wheel has turned,
And the world narrows down to a point.
All the preparation is complete,
The presents bought,
What hasn’t been done, falls away -
It no longer matters.
May this rare moment of collective gathering
Be a blessing to us all
And a reminder that we need ritual,
We need shared stories,
We need each other -
But what this looks like
is entirely up to us.
For we are the merry-makers
The tradition-guardians
The myth-tellers.
Whatever this season means to you,
May its promise take root within your heart
May we take what we have -
The bonds of love, the dreams, the pain of years -
And weave anew the story
That a great a mysterious thing
Can come among us
And change everything forever,
As natural and miraculous
As the birth of a baby in a hay-filled trough.
May food and drink bless you,
May traditions old and new give you joy,
May bonds of love be strengthened both far and near
And may you know deep peace, today and every day.
